MOSCOW, Nov 19 (Reuters) -Russia's second-largest oil producer Lukoil LKOH.MM shut operations at its catalytic cracker unit (KK-1) at the NORSI oil refinery from Nov. 13 for emergency repair works, three industry sources said on Tuesday.

Lukoil did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

One of the sources said that the catalytic cracker was broken. He said it was not clear how long it would take to repair the unit.

Another source said that the issue led to significant decline in gasoline production on NORSI and Lukoil may have to compensate for the missing volumes by purchasing the fuel in the Russian market.

The capacity of the KK-1 catalytic cracking unit is about 5,710 metric tons of oil per day. The unit allows NORSI to produce about 25% of its motor gasoline or about 1.2 million tons per year.

The KK-1 unit was idled for maintenance from January to June this year.

NORSI refines about 16 million tons of crude a year, or 5.8% of Russia's total refined crude, a top four among Russian oil refineries. The refinery suffered drone attacks earlier this year.
