MOSCOW, Oct 11 (Reuters) -Russia's consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.48% on a monthly basis in September after a 0.20% increase the previous month, the statistics service said on Friday.

In year-on-year terms, inflation was 8.63%, down from 9.05% in August.

The month-on-month and year-on-year increases were above analysts' expectations of 0.4% and 8.5% in a Reuters poll.

In September, the central bank admitted that price growth at year-end would exceed its forecast range of 6.5-7.0% and allowed further tightening of monetary policy.

Analysts expect the regulator will raise the key rate by 100 basis points to 20% at its Oct. 25 meeting.
