BUDGET

On Wednesday Poland's cabinet will discuss the 2025 budget, state news agency PAP reported.

On Tuesday, Newsweek reported, citing sources, that the budget deficit would be at a record level of almost 300 billion zlotys ($78 billion) due to increased defence spending and moving spending that under the previous government not been included in the budget into it.


WATER

Three new installations for the desalination of water flowing into the Oder river are to be built within the next five years, Rzeczpospolita daily reported. The climate ministry and the state assets ministry together with mining companies are working on an investment plan worth up to 4.5 billion zlotys ($1.17 billion).


REAL ESTATE

The number of new mortgages in Poland has decreased by 30% since the end of a state-funded programme offering loans with 2% interest, Rzeczpospolita reported, but nevertheless forecasts for the second half of 2024 are positive.


NATURAL GAS

Polish pipeline operator Gaz-System sees the possibility of creating a regional natural gas market in Poland, Rzeczpospolita reported. The market could be built by amending the regulations on creating mandatory gas reserves, the newspaper reported.
