SAO PAULO, Nov 18 (Reuters) -Brazil's state-run oil firm Petrobras PETR4.SA has signed agreements with its local ANSA unit and fertilizer company Yara, which could see Yara selling AUS 32 diesel exhaust fluid in the country.

WHY IT'S IMPORTANT

Brazil currently imports AUS 32, or 32% aqueous urea solution, which is used to reduce emissions from diesel vehicles. The deal would see ANSA producing AUS 32 at its plant in the southern state of Parana, which is expected to start operating again in May after lying dormant for five years.

It is also a further step towards Petrobras' goal of entering the fertilizer business.

DETAILS

Yara would supply the urea to produce AUS 32 and then sell the final product, Petrobras said.

Petrobras signed a further agreement with Yara to develop joint studies in fertilizers and related industrial products. It also covers energy transition efforts linked to decarbonization projects and the production of renewable, low-carbon fertilizers.

KEY QUOTE

"This scientific, technological and operational cooperation aims to achieve greater production efficiency and increase the supply of these products on the market," said Petrobras in a statement.
