CHICAGO, Aug 21 (Reuters) -Following are U.S. expectations for the resumption of grain and soy complex trading at the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) at 8:30 a.m. CDT (1330 GMT) on Wednesday.

WHEAT - Down 1 to 3 cents per bushel

* Winter wheat futures lower in a narrow trading range as the market weighs pressure from stiff global export competition against improved U.S. demand prospects due to a weaker dollar and possible delays to Canadian shipments.

* A looming Canadian rail stoppage would disrupt grain shipments but could stoke improved export demand for U.S. supplies. Canada is the world's No. 3 wheat exporter.

* CBOT September soft red winter wheat WU24 was last down 3-1/4 cents at $5.29-3/4 per bushel. K.C. September hard red winter wheat KWU24 was last down 1-3/4 cents at $5.44-1/4 per bushel, and MGEX September spring wheat MWEU24 was last up 2 cents at $5.92-1/4 per bushel.

CORN - Steady to up 2 cents per bushel

* Corn firmer in a technical and short-covering recovery from recent four-year lows. Hopes for improved export demand after recent price lows supportive, although strong U.S. harvest prospects capping gains.

* Worries about shipping delays due to a looming Canadian rail work stoppage are stoking market uncertainty.

* Midwest crop tour scouts estimated above-average yields in Nebraska and Indiana corn fields on Tuesday. The tour will survey top producers Iowa and Illinois on Wednesday.

* CBOT December corn CZ24 was last up 1-1/4 cents at $3.99-1/4 per bushel.

SOYBEANS - Up 3 to 6 cents per bushel

* Soybeans rise as reports from a closely followed annual U.S. crop tour suggest harvest potential is not as strong as lofty government estimates in some areas. Improved demand prospects after recent four-year price lows also supportive.

* Worries about shipping delays due to a looming Canadian rail work stoppage are stoking market uncertainty.

* Scouts on the Pro Farmer Midwest crop tour estimated above-average soy pod counts in Nebraska, although the figures were short of some lofty estimates. Meanwhile, Indiana's pod count was the largest in 22 years.

* The USDA confirmed private sales of 132,000 metric tons of U.S. soybeans to China and 121,000 tons to undisclosed destinations for shipment in the 2024/25 marketing year.

* CBOT November soybeans SX24 were last up 5-1/2 cents at $9.81-1/2 per bushel.
