NEW YORK, Sept 13 (Reuters) -Speculators increased net short bets on Treasuries futures across maturities in the latest week, according to data by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission on Friday.

Net short positions on two-year Treasury futures rose to 1,006,216 contracts 1042601NNET in the week ended 10 Sep 2024, according to the CFTC's latest Commitments of Traders data. That was a slight increase from the week before, in which net short positions stood at 982,462.

Net short bets on the benchmark 10-year note futures 1043602NNET rose to 1,022,105 contracts from 1,002,827, data showed. Net short bets on five-year note futures grew marginally to 1,719,996 contracts 1044601NNET.

Speculators increased net short bets on U.S. bonds 1020601NNET to 64,230 contracts from 33,044 a week earlier. U.S. Long T-bonds short bets rose to 259,158 contracts from 240,202, data showed. 1020604NNET

The changes took place ahead of the Federal Reserve's rate-setting meeting on Sept. 17-18, which is widely expected to lead to the first interest rate cut by the U.S. central bank in four years.
