- Canada's two main railroads Canadian National Railway CNR.TO and Canadian Pacific Kansas City CP.TO locked out over 9,000 employees Thursday after they were unable to reach new labor deals with a Teamsters union.
- Whitehaven Coal WHC.AX has struck separate deals with Japan's Nippon Steel 5401.T and JFE Steel to sell 20% and 10% stakes, respectively, in its Blackwater coking coal mine for a total of $1.08 billion.
- Edgar Bronfman Jr. has sweetened his offer for National Amusements and a minority stake in Paramount PARA.O to $6 billion.
- Cryptocurrency-trading platform FTX Trading said an amended reorganization plan won overwhelming preliminary support from all classes of creditors entitled to vote.
- TD Bank TD.TO has set aside $2.6 billion for fines it is likely to face from U.S. regulators because of weaknesses with its anti-money-laundering practices.
