BRUSSELS, Oct 21 (Reuters) -Mike Muller, Vitol's Asia CEO, will retire from the global commodity trader in 2025, sources familiar with the matter said, handing over the reins to Bahrain head Kieran Gallagher.

Muller joined Vitol in 2018 after nearly 30 years at oil major Shell where he was head of crude oil trading. He became head of Vitol Asia in 2019.

Vitol declined to comment.

The handover has no fixed date, the sources said. Gallagher, who is general manager of Vitol's Bahrain office, joined the executive committee earlier this year. The executive committee makes key decisions at the privately owned firm.

Gallagher joined Vitol in 2003 to trade refined products and he has been based in Bahrain since 2012.

Muller's move is the second high-profile change in Vitol's leadership this year. Long-time executive Chris Bake has left the executive committee but remains on the board of two key subsidiaries.

The committee has been reduced to 10 people with Bake's move.
