The Dow and the S&P 500 edged higher on Friday on gains in American Express after upbeat earnings and as initial jitters about an escalation in the Middle East conflict subsided, while Netflix weighed on the Nasdaq following its dour forecast. .N
At 10:57 ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average .DJI was up 0.45% at 37,946.91. The S&P 500 .SPX was down 0.22% at 5,000.16 and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC was down 0.81% at 15,474.81.
