US Cash Grains-Corn, soybean basis bids mixed
CHICAGO, Sept 30 (Reuters) -Basis bids for U.S. corn and soybeans were mixed in the U.S. Midwest on Monday, pressured in areas where the harvest expanded, merchandisers said.
* The spot corn basis fell by a nickel a bushel at a Chicago processing site. But the corn basis firmed by 20 cents at a Toledo, Ohio, terminal elevator.
* Similarly for soybeans, the basis weakened by 5 cents at a Des Moines, Iowa, soy crushing facility, but the soy basis improved by 2 cents at Toledo, Ohio.
* The U.S. Department of Agriculture in a weekly progress report said the U.S. corn harvest was 21% complete, below an average of analyst expectations but still ahead of the five-year average of 18%. The soybean harvest was 26% complete, ahead of trade expectations and the five-year average of 18%.
* Chicago Board of Trade corn Cv1 futures set a three-month high on Monday, settling up 6-3/4 cents at $4.24-3/4 a bushel, while soybeans futures Sv1 ended down 8-3/4 cents at $10.57 a bushel. GRA/
