KYIV, Aug 14 (Reuters) -Ukraine's 2024 corn harvest may fall to 20 to 21 million metric tons from around 30 million tins in 2023 if drought continues, the producers group the Ukrainian Agrarian Council told Reuters on Wednesday.

Most of Ukraine experienced an abnormal heatwave in July, which producers expect will decrease the yield of late crops by around 30%.

Ukrainian senior industry official said on Tuesday the farm ministry forecast the 2024 corn crop at around 25 million tons.

The ministry is set to publish its new crop forecast in September.

Analysts and traders have predicted the corn output at between 23 and 25 million tons, while USDA in its August report out production at more than 27 million tons.

"It is very likely that the USDA did not take into account the negative impact of the weather on the Ukrainian corn crop," the Agrarian Council said.

Ukraine farmers are likely to start the corn harvest late in August.
