UK Stocks-Factors to watch on Oct 9
Adds new items, updates futures
Oct 9 (Reuters) -Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is seen opening higher, with futures FFIc1 up 0.3%.
* RIO TINTO: Rio Tinto RIO.AX, RIO.L said on Wednesday it will acquire Arcadium Lithium ALTM.N in an all-cash transaction, valued at $6.7 billion, in a deal that will make it the world's third-largest lithium producer.
* MONDI: British paper and packaging firm Mondi MNDI.L has agreed to buy the German, Benelux and UK packaging assets of Schumacher Packaging for 634 million euros, including debt, to expand in Western Europe, it said.
* MARSTON'S: British pub group Marston's MARS.L forecast a significantreduction in its net debt and said its annual like-for-like sales growth outperformed the broader market, driven by resilient demand for its drinks and pub grub.
* CMC: British trading platform CMC Markets CMCX.L forecast a 45% rise in first-half net operating income on Wednesday, buoyed by cost cuts and sustained levels of trading activity.
* BP: Kosmos Energy KOS.N said on Tuesday a Paris-based arbitrator has ruled in favour of BP BP.L, prohibiting Kosmos from selling to third parties liquefied natural gas from the Greater Tortue (GTA) project offshore Senegal and Mauritania.
* GOLD: Gold prices were subdued as investors strapped in for minutes from the Federal Reserve's latest policy meeting for insights into the U.S. central bank's interest rate trajectory.
* METALS: Copper prices in Shanghai extended declines to a second straight session, as China's latest stimulus announcement failed to soothe doubts over economic recovery in the top metals consumer.
* OIL: Oil prices steadied in Asian trading as traders weighed developments in the Middle East conflict against continued bearish expectations for demand.
