UK Stocks-Factors to watch on Oct. 30
Oct 30 (Reuters) -Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is seen opening lower on Wednesday, with futures FFIc1 down 0.5%.
* BUDGET: Britain's new finance minister Rachel Reeves will announce what may be the biggest tax hikes in three decades on Wednesday in a bid to fix the country's sagging public services, alongside billions of pounds of extra borrowing to overhaul the economy.
* BAE SYSTEMS: A significant fire remains ongoing at BAE Systems' BAES.L shipyard in Barrow-in-Furness, northwest England, but there was no nuclear risk from the incident, police said.
* STANDARD CHARTERED: Standard Chartered (StanChart) STAN.L reported a 172% jump in third-quarter pretax profit, ahead of analysts' estimates, as slower-than-expected rate cuts continue to bolster the emerging-market focused lender's revenue.
* ANGLO AMERICAN: BHP BHP.AX has moved on to focus on other growth opportunities after shareholders of Anglo American AAL.L voted against its takeover approach earlier this year, the company's chairman said.
* WAGES: Britain's minimum wage for most adults will increase by 6.7% from April next year, a boost for low-paid workers but a concern for employers who are finding it harder to implement such rises.
* OIL: Oil prices stabilised on industry data showing a surprise drop in U.S. crude and gasoline inventories.
* METALS: Copper prices traded sideways as traders brace for a tightly contested U.S. presidential election and await further stimulus measures from top consumer China.
* FTSE: The UK's benchmark FTSE 100 fell on Tuesday due to broader declines led by the energy sector on losses in BP, while investors kept their focus on the upcoming budget later this week.
