April 24 -Britain's FTSE 100 .FTSE index is seen opening higher on Wednesday, with futures FFIc1 up 0.6%.

* ITHACA: Ithaca Energy ITH.L has agreed to buy nearly all of Eni's ENI.MI UK-based oil and gas producing assets for about 754 million pounds ($938.28 million) in stock, as it looks to become one of the biggest independent energy companies in the North Sea.

* VODAFONE: Bharti Airtel BRTI.NS is in talks to buy UK-based Vodafone Group's VOD.L 21.05% stake in Indus Towers INUS.NS, potentially giving the Indian telecom operator a controlling stake, the Economic Times newspaper reported on Wednesday.

* OIL: Oil prices were slightly higher after industry data showed a surprise drop in U.S. crude stocks last week, a positive sign for demand, though markets were also keeping a close eye on hostilities in the Middle East.

* METALS: London copper traded within a tight range as a recent rally in prices dampened consumption in top consumer China, although supply disruptions primarily caused by Cobre Panama mine closure continued to lend some support.

* FTSE: Britain's blue-chip share index cruised to record highs on Tuesday helped by a weaker pound and positive corporate updates, while Primark owner AB Food led gains on an upbeat profit outlook.
