ANKARA, Nov 27 (Reuters) -Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Wednesday.
The lira TRYTOM=D3 was quoted at 34.6565 against the U.S. dollar at 0443 GMT, compared with a close of 34.6510 on Tuesday.
The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 0.25% lower at 9,636.12 points on Tuesday.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian stocks were heavy on Wednesday as investors fretted over what countries could be targeted for tariffs under incoming U.S. President Donald Trump, a day after he pledged new levies on Canada, Mexico and China.
ERDOGAN PROGRAMME
President Tayyip Erdogan will address lawmakers from his ruling AK Party in parliament and attend an awards ceremony in Ankara later. (0900 GMT) (1500 GMT)
PARLIAMENT
The opposition Felicity Party and Iyi Party will hold their parliamentary group meetings in Ankara (0730 GMT) (0630 GMT)
Parliament's planning and budget commission will discuss the Family and Social Services Ministry's 2025 budget. (0700 GMT)
CENTRAL BANK GOVERNOR
Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan will attend a meeting of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce. (1200 GMT)
ENERGY MINISTER
Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar will attend the sixth meeting of the Turkish-German Energy Forum in Berlin. (1200 GMT)
TRADE MINISTER
Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat will attend the HELAL EXPO International Trade Fair in Istanbul and later participate in an event at the Konya Chamber of Industry. (0700 GMT) (1530 GMT)
U.S. SANCTIONS ON GAZPROMBANK
Turkey is in talks with the United States and Russia in an attempt to secure a U.S. sanctions waiver so it can continue paying Gazprombank for Russian natural gas imports, Turkish authorities said.
F-16 PROCUREMENT PACKAGE
Turkey has reduced its planned $23 billion acquisition of an F-16 fighter jet package from the United States, scrapping the purchase of 79 modernisation kits for its existing fleet, Defence Minister Yasar Guler said late on Tuesday.
CEASEFIRE IN LEBANON
A ceasefire between Israel and Iran-backed group Hezbollah came into effect at 0200 GMT on Wednesday after U.S. President Joe Biden said both sides accepted an agreement brokered by the United States and France.
TURKEY-UAE
The United Arab Emirates foreign ministry announced on Tuesday that Turkish authorities assisted in the arrest of the suspects accused of murdering an Israeli rabbi in the UAE.
ERDOGAN ALLY'S CALL
A key ally of Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan expanded on his proposal to end 40 years of conflict with Kurdish militants by proposing on Tuesday that parliament's pro-Kurdish party holds direct talks with the militants' jailed leader Abdullah Ocalan.
