Turkey - Factors To Watch on Nov 21
ANKARA, Nov 21 (Reuters) -Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Thursday.
The lira TRYTOM=D3 was quoted at 34.4700-34.5100 against the U.S. dollar at 0430 GMT, after closing at 34.4450 on Wednesday.
The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 2.18% lower at 9,031.82 points on Wednesday.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian equities fell on Thursday after AI darling Nvidia NVDA.O disappointed investors with a subdued revenue forecast, while the dollar firmed and bitcoin hit a record high in anticipation of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's proposed policies.
VICE PRESIDENT
Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz will attend an event on Turkey's first quantum computer in Ankara (0800 GMT).
FOREIGN MINISTRY BUDGET
Parliament's planning and budget commission is scheduled to debate the foreign ministry's 2025 budget (0700 GMT). Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will attend the session and respond to questions of MPs.
TRADE MINISTER
Trade Minister Omer Bolat will attend an awards ceremony for exporters in Istanbul (0630 GMT).
CENTRAL BANK MEETING TRINT=ECI
The central bank will hold its monthly monetary policy committee meeting and announce its decision on interest rates (1100 GMT). The central bank is expected to hold steady at 50%.
CENTRAL BANK DATA TRNFR=ECI
The central bank will release its weekly data, including on forex reserves (1130 GMT).
CONSUMER CONFIDENCE TRCONC=ECI
The Turkish Statistics Institute will announce November consumer confidence index data (0700 GMT).
MINIMUM WAGE
President Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday cited the central bank's year-end inflation forecast of 44% and said Turkey will not let inflation crush people when asked about an expected rise in the minimum wage on January 1.
