Turkey - Factors To Watch on Dec 18
ANKARA, Dec 18 (Reuters) -Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Wednesday.
The lira TRYTOM=D3 traded at record low of 35.0200 against the U.S. dollar at 0305 GMT, after closing at 34.9600 on Tuesday.
The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 0.14% higher at 10,011.27 points on Tuesday.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian stocks hovered near two-week lows and the dollar hit milestone highs against the Australian and New Zealand dollars on Wednesday in the countdown to an expected U.S. interest rate cut.
ERDOGAN
President Erdogan will attend a science awards ceremony in Ankara (1100 GMT) and then will hold joint news conference with Lebanon's caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati (1545 GMT) after having one-on-one and inter-delegational talks.
FOREIGN MINISTER
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will attend a foreign ministers meeting of D-8 developing nations in Cairo.
PARLIAMENT
Parliament's general assembly will hold a debate on the 2025 budget of the presidency (0800 GMT).
HOUSE SALES
The Turkish Statistical Institute will release November house sales data (0700 GMT).
SYRIA ADMINISTRATION
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday that an inclusive administration is needed in Syria and called on the European Union to support the return of Syrians who fled during the country's 13-year civil war.
NORTHERN SYRIA
A ceasefire between Turkey and the U.S.-backed Kurdish Syrian forces (SDF) around the northern Syrian city of Manbij has been extended until the end of this week, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said on Tuesday.
