Turkey - Factors To Watch on Dec 16
ISTANBUL, Dec 16 (Reuters) -Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Monday.
The lira TRYTOM=D3 was quoted at 34.9650 against the U.S. dollar at 0205 GMT, after closing at 34.9525 on Friday.
The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 0.66% higher at 10,125.46 points on Friday.
GLOBAL MARKETS
Asian stock markets were in a wary mood on Monday as surging bond yields challenged equity valuations, particularly for the richly priced tech sector, in a week packed with central bank meetings and major economic data.
ERDOGAN SCHEDULE
President Tayyip Erdogan will chair a meeting of his ruling AK Party's executive committees, after which the party spokesman is expected to make a statement. (1100 GMT) Erdogan will later make a speech at an event for retirees. 1500 GMT)
MINIMUM WAGE TALKS
The Labour Ministry will host the second meeting of the commission that fixes the minimum wage to discuss the level that will be set for 2025. (1130 GMT)
PARLIAMENTARY BUDGET TALKS
Parliament's general assembly will hold talks on the budgets of the Treasury and Trade Ministries. (0800 GMT)
BUDGET DATA TRBUD=ECI
The Ministry of Treasury and Finance will publish the November budget balance data. (0800 GMT)
BOND AUCTIONS
The Treasury will reissue a two-year fixed coupon bond due on August 12, 2026 and a six-year variable rate bond due on April 16, 2031.
DEFENCE MINISTER ON SYRIA
The new administration in Syria should be given a chance to govern following their constructive messages, and Turkey stands ready to provide military training if such help is requested, Turkish Defence Minister Yasar Guler said.
