Standout FX option strike expiries this week
Sept 9 (Reuters) -The cash hedging of soon-to-expire FX option strikes can have a magnetic effect on FX price action, adding to nearby support/resistance. There are some huge strikes expiring on Monday and for the week ahead.
The closest and largest EUR/USD strikes expiring on Monday are at 1.1050 on 2.4 billion euros and 1.1100 on 1.3 billion euros. Tuesday's largest strikes expire at 1.1000 on 1.9 billion euros, 1.1050-60 on 1 billion euros, 1.1100 on 1.7 billion euros, Thursday at 1.1000 on 3.3 billion euros, 1.1025-30 on 1.8 billion euros, 1.1040-45 on 1.4 billion euros, 1.1050-55 on 2.8 billion euros, 1.1100-10 on 1.4 billion euros and 1.1200-10 on 2.5 billion euros. Friday has 1.0975 strike expiries on 1.2 billion euros and 1.1000-10 strikes on 1 billion euros and 1.1120-25 strikes on 1.8 billion euros.
The biggest USD/CHF strike expiries are on Tuesday at 0.8615-20 on $1 billion, Wednesday at 0.8600 on $750 million, Thursday at 0.8455 on $784 million and Friday at 0.8550 on $660 million.
The only significant GBP/USD strike expiries are on Monday at 1.3150 on 389 million pounds and 1.3175 on 954 million pounds. The largest EUR/GBP strike expiries are on Tuesday at 0.8400-05 on 524 million euros and 0.8470 on 612 million euros, Thursday at 0.8470 on 450 million euros and Friday at 0.8500 on 476 million euros.
Larger AUD/USD strike expiries are on Tuesday at 0.6685-90 on A$1 billion, 0.6695 on A$1.3 billion and 0.6800 on A$1.5 billion, Wednesday at 0.6610 on A$1 billion and 0.6825 on A$850 million, Thursday at 0.6710-15 on A$1.6 billion and 0.6750 on A$1.2 billion. There's a huge NZ$ 2.2 billion NZD/USD strike expiry on Wednesday at 0.6065.
USD/CAD strike expiries are on Tuesday at 1.3450 on $720 million and 1.3510 on $892 million. Wednesday at 1.3495-1.3500 on $842 million, Thursday at 1.3590 on $838 million and on Friday at 1.3690-95 on $2.2 billion and 1.3700-10 on $878 million.
Stand-out USD/JPY strike expiries are Monday at 141.50 and 142.00 on $1.2 billion each, Wednesday at 142.50 on $813 million and Thursday at 141.40 on $1 billion and 142.00 on $761 million. EUR/JPY strike expiries are on Tuesday at 160.00 on 1 billion euros and on Friday at 158.17 on 937 million euros and 162.75 on 840 million euros.
