S&P 500 E-MINIS NEAR FLAT; TRIM LOSSES AFTER JOBLESS DATA

S&P 500 e-minis EScv1 were nearly unchanged on Thursday, with index futures paring losses after data showing the number of Americans filing new applications for jobless benefits declined last week as layoffs remained low.

That could help to ease worries of deterioration in the job market ahead of Friday's monthly U.S. payrolls data, the week's key economic report.

A separate report showed U.S. worker productivity grew faster than initially thought in the second quarter.

Investors have been looking at the labor market and weighing whether the Federal Reserve's expected interest rate cut at its Sept. 17-18 meeting will be by 25 or 50 basis points.
