Renault tops STOXX after reports on talks between Nissan, Honda
** Shares in French automaker Renault RENA.PA rise more than 6% after reports that Honda 7267.T and Nissan 7201.T are in talks to deepen their ties, including a possible merger
** Renault owns 36% of Nissan whose Tokyo shares rose 23.7%
** The talks are focused on finding ways to bolster collaboration and include the possibility of setting up a holding company, two sources said
** This would allow them to share more resources to face competition especially from Tesla TSLA.O and Chinese EV makers
** Renault said it had no information and declined to comment
** The Renault shares top the pan-European STOXX 600 index .STOXX
** They are on track for their best day since Feb. 15 if the gains hold
