OSLO, Sept 12 (Reuters) -Norwegian companies expect overall economic activity to increase somewhat in the second half of 2024 but expectations for the third quarter have been revised down slightly since June, a central bank business survey showed on Thursday.

Construction and retail trade companies expect a decline in activity in the second half of the year, and prospects are weaker than before summer, while other industries expect growth, especially within oil services, Norges Bank said.

The quarterly Norges Bank survey is a key input for its Sept. 19 interest rate decision.

Businesses overall plan for an increase in employment in both the third and fourth quarters, the central bank said.

"Since the previous survey, the share of contacts reporting full capacity utilisation has increased somewhat and slightly more contacts report recruitment difficulties," it added.

Norway's currency, the crown, strengthened to 11.91 against the euro EURNOK= by 0813 GMT, from 11.93 ahead of the data release.
