POLITICS
Italy's parliament made it illegal on Wednesday for couples to go abroad to have a baby via surrogacy -- a pet project of Prime Minister's Giorgia Meloni party which activists say is meant to target same-sex partners.
ECONOMY
Italy plans to raise roughly 4 billion euros ($4.4 billion) in 2025 from changes in tax rules for banks, insurance products and business licences for gaming, Rome's draft budgetary plan (DBP) showed on Wednesday.

(*) The lender has signed an agreement with labour unions for the employment of 500 people and 1,000 voluntary redundancies, banking union Fabi said on Thursday.
Italy's second-biggest bank is still awaiting a court decision over whether it must immediately reduce its Russia business to comply with a European Central Bank order, months after filing an objection, people familiar with the situation told Reuters.

The car maker said on Wednesday it is recalling 54,000 hybrid crossover SUVs worldwide because the brake pedal in the vehicles could disengage and stop working.
The White House on Wednesday said Stellantis should deliver on commitments made to the United Auto Workers union and communities affected by plant closures in the United States.

The planned sale by the Italian Treasury of around 14% of the Italian postal service is likely to take place in mid-November, likely after the U.S. elections, three newspapers reported on Thursday. Daily Il Messaggero added that four banking foundations, including Cariplo, are planning to invest.
Poste said on Thursday the approval of its share offering document by market watchdog Consob had been temporarily suspended, pending decisions regarding the times and the conditions of the sale by the Economy Ministry.

Thales Alenia Space, a joint venture between Thales TCFP.PA and Leonardo, has signed a 107-million-euro contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) for the supply of 6 additional radar-based satellites dedicated to the Italian Earth observation constellation, IRIDE, the group said on Thursday. With this new contract, Thales Alenia Space will build a total of 13 satellites for IRIDE constellation.

HSBC cut on Thursday its recommendation on the stock to "hold" from "buy" and the target price to 105 euros from 110 euros.

Following raids by the Italian tax police in its offices as part of a preliminary investigation into alleged public procurement offences, the group said late on Thursday its board had met and started internal verification procedures over current and past procurement operations as well as an audit on internal procedures.
