POLITICS

Italy's record on spending its bumper share of the EU's post-COVID funds is patchy at best, data showed, as the minister in charge of the matter faced a European Parliament hearing on Tuesday over his prospective new job at the European Commission.

Treasury sells following BTP bonds: 3.5-4.0 billion euros new 2.70% due Oct. 15, 2027; 1.25-1.5 billion euros 3.50% due Feb. 15, 2025; 1.25-1.5 billion 2.50% due Dec. 1, 2032; 1.0-1.25 billion euros 4.15% due Oct. 1, 2039. Subscriptions close at 1000 GMT.

The bank's five shareholder foundations that were already part of a shareholders' pact in the past -- Compagnia Sanpaolo, Cariplo, Cariparo, Cr Firenze, Carisbo -- are set to ask the ECB for approval to form a new pact aimed at submitting a slate of candidates in April for the renewal of the board, Il Messaggero reported on Monday. The five institutions would be joined this time by a sixth foundation, CRC, raising the total shareholding of the pact to 15.69% from 14.64%.

Broker HSBC said on Wednesday it had initiated coverage on the stock with a 'Buy' rating and a target price of 7.20 euros.

The board of directors of Enel Chile approved switching from the Chilean peso to the US dollar for its accounting books of 2024, daily MF reported on Wednesday, adding the move will impact the yearly accounts for some $450 million but will not have an impact of the company's liquidity.

Commerzbank CBKG.DE is weighing the acquisition of a mid-sized German bank as part of its strategy to fend off a possible takeover by Italy's UniCredit, three people with knowledge of the matter told Reuters on Tuesday.


TELECOMS

Swisscom SCMN.S offered a second set of remedies to Italy's antitrust authority at the end of October to win approval for a planned deal to combine its Italian arm Fastweb with Vodafone VOD.L assets in the country, a letter seen by Reuters showed.

The engineering group announced on Tuesday that its Stamicarbon unit had won a licensing and Process Design Package for a nitric acid plant in Mexico from Soluciones Químicas.

SAIPEM SPMI.MI

Blackrock held a 5% indirect stake in Italy's Saipem as of Nov. 7, a regulatory filing showed.

MEDIOBANCA MDBI.MI

Italy's Mediobanca missed revenue estimates and cut its full year net interest income forecast on Tuesday, sending shares down more than 8% despite a better-than-expected quarterly profit.


ITALIAN SEA GROUP TISGR.MI

The group is not liable in relation to the fatal sinking of Mike Lynch's superyacht, which killed the British tech billionaire and six others, its chief executive said on Tuesday.
