POLITICS

Italy's and France's far-right leaders Giorgia Meloni and Marine Le Pen should reinforce their cooperation after June's EU election, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban told French magazine Le Point published on Wednesday.

(*) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is the latest addition to the guest list at a Group of Seven (G7) summit in Italy next month. Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman may also be present, sources close to the matter told Reuters.

MONTE DEI PASCHI DI SIENA (MPS) BMPS.MI

Shares in the Italian bank fell as much as 10% on Wednesday, closing down 5.4%, after a judge asked Milan prosecutors to investigate alleged fraud in relation to the bank's rescue in 2017, according to a document seen by Reuters.

The CEO oh the Italian lender Giuseppe Castagna believes there are "no conditions today" to merge with state-controlled Monte dei Paschi, he said in an interview published on Thursday with daily Il Sole 24 Ore.

The bank announced on Thursday the early repayment of 300 million euros 8.750% additional Tier1 notes. The earliest date of the exercise of the call option is June 18, it said.

The Italian construction group, in a JV with French partner NGE, won a contract worth 1.38 billion euros, of which 45.5% go to Webuild, to build the Grand Paris Express new metro line in the Ile de France region, the company said on Thursday.

The Italian phone group posted a 3% rise in first-quarter core profit as a strong performance from its Brazilian-listed business outweighed ongoing weakness in its domestic division pending a planned sale of its fixed-line access network. EBITDA-AL rose to 1.2 billion euros ($1.30 billion) in the three months to the end of March, TIM said on Wednesday. That was in line with a company-provided analyst consensus.

China's Silk Road Fund is selling its 9% stake in Italian premium tyre maker through a so-called accelerated book building (ABB) procedure, a bookrunner said on Wednesday.

Italian luxury sneaker brand Golden Goose announced on Thursday its intention to list on the Milan bourse in June aiming at strengthening the group's capital structure and reducing debt levels. The offer will consist of 100 million euros of new shares and existing shares, to reach a free float equal to at least 25% of the outstanding share capital.


STELLANTIS STLAM.MI

The transition to electric vehicles (EVs) will impose a "significant burden" on auto suppliers, the carmaker's CEO Carlos Tavares said on Wednesday as Western automakers race to cut costs and compete with Chinese peers.


NEXI NEXII.MI

Payments companies Nexi, Stripe and Adyen ADYEN.AS have started offering businesses in Italy a way to accept payments from customers that relies on Apple's AAPL.O iPhones, they said on Wednesday.


TERNA TRN.MI

The Italian power grid operator said on Wednesday it had underwritten a 250-million-euro ESG-linked revolving credit facility with Intesa Sanpaolo ISP.MI.
