MUMBAI, Aug 8 (Reuters) -Indian government bond yields are expected to be little changed in early trading on Thursday as market participants await the Reserve Bank of India's monetary policy decision, with focus on its stance and guidance on liquidity.

The benchmark 10-year yield IN071034G=CC is likely to move between 6.85% and 6.87% till the policy decision, compared to its previous close of 6.8632%, trader with a private bank said.

"There are some growing murmurs about a change in stance keeping in mind what is happening in global markets, and that has led to some bullish moves in bonds this week," the trader said.

The RBI is widely expected to hold rates steady in its decision due at 10:00 a.m. IST, but with growing worries about the global economy investors are hoping for a more dovish tone from policymakers that could open the door for an October rate cut.

A slim majority of economists in a Reuters poll are expecting the first rate cut in October-December. While most expect 50-75 basis points of cuts, Bank of America's Vikas Jain said he expects 100 bps of cuts.

Traders will also look out for an increase in transaction limit for foreign investors in overnight index swaps.

Issues like case and timing of policy pivot, and factors influencing liquidity management ahead would be key for markets, said Madhavi Arora, chief economist at Emkay Global who expects softness in the policy tone.

U.S. yields rose on Wednesday, with the 10-year yield US10YT=RR consolidating above 3.90%, after soft demand at the 10-year note auction and as companies rushed to sell debt as risk appetite improved.

The odds for a 50 bps rate cut from the Federal Reserve in September remain around 72% from nearly 100% on Monday, although they have marginally improved from a day ago, as per CME FedWatch tool.

Futures are also pricing in 110 bps of cuts in 2024 compared to over 125 bps on Monday.
