GREEN SHOOTS FOR STOCKS

European stocks are set for a positive start to Wednesday after jittery investors were reassured after The Bank of Japan's deputy governor played down the chance of a near-term interest rate hike.

EuroSTOXX50 STXEc1 futures are adding 0.8%. FTSE futures FFIc1 are up 1% and DAX futures FDXc1 are 0.6% higher.

But nerves are still fraught, understandably so, given the STOXX 600 .STOXX has shed 5.8% in the last four sessions alone.

Major earnings are likely to move stocks in both directions today.

Novo Nordisk NOVOb.CO has missed its Q2 profit margin, while Siemens Energy ENR1n.DE raised its free cash flow outlook for the second time in three months.

In the UK, Legal & General LGEN.L has posted better-than-forecast H1 operating profit and Lloyd's of London insurer Hiscox HSX.L H1 profit is up 7%.

Elsewhere, the Financial Times reported that Swiss pharmaceutical company Roche ROG.S is considering divesting cancer data specialist Flatiron Health.
