Explosion damages canal feeding power plants in northern Kosovo
PRISTINA, Nov 29 (Reuters) -An explosion damaged a canal supplying two coal-fired powerplants in northern Kosovo on Friday evening, which could interrupt power supply in the country, local authorities said.
There were no immediatereports of injuries and the cause of the blast was not clear.
"An explosion has damaged a water channel thatfeeds two power plants in the country," a police official told Reuters.
Local media showed pictures of part of the canal destroyed and leaking water. Reuters could not immediately verify the images.
Earlier on Friday, Kosovo police announced increased security measures after two recent attacks where hand grenades where hurled at apolice station and municipality building in northern Kosovo where ethnic Serbians live.
