EUROPE BEFORE THE BELL: FUTURES MIXED AFTER FOMC MINUTES, TARIFF THREATS
European equity futures are signalling a mixed start on Wednesday as investors judge what Trump's latest tariff threats mean for markets, while the Fed minutes provided few new clues about the likely outlook for U.S. monetary policy.
The U.S. president-elect earlier this week pledged new levies on imports from Canada, Mexico and China, hitting certain sectors, including Europe's automakers which have large manufacturing operations in Mexico.
Meanwhile, Fed officials appeared divided over how much further they need to cut interest rates, the minutes from their meeting this month showed.
European futures are mixed. Euro STOXX 50 STXEc1 futures are down 0.1%. FTSE FFIc1 and DAX FDXc1 futures are slightly higher, while France's CAC FCEc1 futures are down 0.3%.
In corporate news, British budget airline easyJet EZJ.L will be in focus after the company reported annual operating profit below market expectations as Middle East disruptions weighed.
