MILAN, July 18 (Reuters) -Spanish fund Asterion has agreed to buy 49% of a holding company that owns several Italian airports, it said on Thursday, in a deal which two sources said had a value of between 800 and 900 million euros ($870-$980 million).

Asterion has bought out French investment house Ardian and insurer Credit Agricole Assurance who have jointly owned the business with Italian investment fund F2i since 2015.

Known as 2i Aeroporti, the business holds direct and indirect stakes in Malpensa and Linate, Milan's two airports, as well as airports in nearby Bergamo, and Turin, Naples, Salerno, Trieste and Bologna.

"We are committed to advancing 2i Aeroporti's position as the first airport operator in Italy, with sustainable growth and enhancing Italy's connectivity," said Guido Mitrani, a founding partner at Asterion.
