European stock markets were broadly heading higher in today’s trading. US indices such as the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite closed at fresh all-time highs yesterday with energy stocks and financials leading the gains, while the blue-chip Dow Jones Industrial Average came close to achieving the same feat. Major European bourses had a mixed performance day with the French CAC 40 and the FTSE MIB gaining, while others fell, with the pan-European STOXX 600 down a quarter of a percent. All major European bourses declined but a number of blue chips swung into the black thanks to positive updates.
